Leeds
Clark Inc. believes inspection of the historic windows and
its materials is vital in developing a window restoration
plan. Condition assessment of the windows helps the architect
and building owner/s establish needs, offer realistic solutions
and specifications, then develop a plan and budget to determine
feasibility of the proposed window restoration. Leeds Clark
has completed hundreds of window restoration projects across
the country throughout 30 plus years in business. Learning
from each and every window restoration project, Tom Clark
has developed and tested window restoration methodologies
based on material type: wood, steel, galvanized & hollow
metal.
Following the Secretary of the Interior's "Standards
for Rehabilitation", Leeds Clark has developed a turn-key
window restoration service based on tested and proven methodologies
and restoration products. Tom Clark has worked close over
the years with the National Park Service on window preservation
techniques and has met on several occasions with John H.
Myers, author Preservation Brief 9, to discuss the repair
of historic wood and steel windows. Below is the prefered
methodology/specifications Leeds Clark incorporates, along
with educational information from the National Park Service
on the repair and thermal upgrading of historic wood and
steel windows.
